I have a question about ….. BASEBALL... Suppose there is a switch hitter that can bat both left and right.. He comes up to the plate to bat left handed.. He takes a few pitches as a left-hand batter and then switches over to continue batting as a right-hand hitter.. Is there anything wrong with doing that ??? Is it illegal to switch from one side to another during your at bat ?? If not, does that mean you can switch sides after every pitch ?? You can change the pitcher in the middle of the batter's count from right hand to left hand, so why can't the batter switch sides as well ?? Just wondering although I never heard of anyone doing that..
Here's what my BFF Google found for me When can a switch-hitter switch sides at the plate? Whenever he wants to! Unlike the pitcher, the batter can switch continuously from the left to the right side of the plate during the same at-bat. However, there is one exception: never during the pitcher’s windup. If the batter switches sides during the windup, he’s OUT. However, unless the batter has a dual ear flap helmet, his indecision could be a problem!
Wait a minute...…….. Do you mean a pitcher that can pitch both left and right cannot pitch a few times left and then switch to pitching a few times right ?? Frankly, I don't know why ….. A batter can take every pitch from the other side but not the pitcher...
