It's interesting that the wife doesn't get it like they do here unless there was a prenup. Or is that just in cases of royalty or people with Titles?
I have no idea Chrissy.....but it's a fascinating tale isn't it? here's some more pics just before I leave for the workhouse.....lol..I feel like one of those servants... This is a corner of the rear of the house..
A tiny corner of the enormous gardens at the front of the house.... it has a lake and a stream running through various parts of the grounds... It's totally self sufficient in that it grows all it's own fruit and veggies in the greenhouses and walled gardens.. for real.....
This is just a tiny part of the walled Kitchen garden...mostly apple trees here.. There's a Vinery inside the greenhouses....and these are real grapes...
My god Holly when I saw your first photo I thought it was your kitchen lol. I thought no wonder you have back problems reaching up and polishing all that copper. Those old mansions are amazing, I have been around most of the "National Trust" ones and the way the rich used to live was truly unbelievable. The kitchens and staff working areas I found to be the most interesting, the rest of the house was usually full of mainly ostentatious period furniture, and artworks.. I found that most of them simply too vast to imagine living in, but a few were just small enough to be able to be cosy in, assuming you had staff of course.
That reminds me of the kitchen in a very strange movie I saw. It was about some teens that come into a family's home and kind of torture the husband, wife and son. Think it was a foreign film.
@Ruby Begonia , have you ever been to Williamsburg in W. Virginia? I forget the correct name of the historical little town...maybe Jamestown. I visited when working an election in W, VA. It's interesting, had photos but who knows where they are. It's pretty big and I only saw part of it.
No, Chrissy, I never did., but I wish I had. Jamestown was the first English settlement, so I bet that's where you went. It was tragic.
