I never liked plain creamed peas with thickening, and never cared much for casseroles. But when the cupboard got really bare one day not long ago, I added a can of green peas to a can of Campbell's cream of potato soup. No additional water. Heated it up in the microwave. It was like a green pea casserole and very good. I think the potatoes and onions in the soup did it. ..
Jeez, those creamed peas on toast looks like grim meal. But, I guess it depends on how staring you are.
I had a friend in elementary school that brought that every day for lunch...on a burger bun. I never tried it.
I remember having home fried potatoes as a child when there was nothing else to eat. Actually pretty good if it is done right. To this day I still make it at least once/week.
I've never had that, either. Sometimes just peanut butter, but mostly PBJ. If I wanted a hot meal I'd toast the bread.
Also with bacon. From what I have read, a bacon, banana, and peanut butter sandwich is called an "Elvis".
I had not heard he used bacon on his peanut butter/banana sandwiches. You may remember better than me.
Yep. You might also make your chili with ground cumin. Of course in ADDITION to chili powder and garlic. Just start with a little bit, taste and add more if you like it. I also add chopped green peppers.
Elvis’ Grilled Peanut Butter-Banana-Bacon Sandwich 2 slices white sandwich bread 4 strips bacon 2 Tbsp. peanut butter 1 banana, sliced Fry bacon in pan. When done, remove bacon but keep bacon grease in pan. Spread peanut butter on both slices of bread and place these peanut butter-side up in pan. Add banana coins and bacon on one piece of bread. When both slices of bread are sufficiently toasted, flip one piece of toast onto the open-faced sandwich, and press down. Flip the whole sandwich one last time and press down, ideally, until the peanut butter oozes. Remove from heat, cut into triangles, and enjoy.
