    Water Pie Recipe
    1 cup flour
    1 1/4 cups sugar
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    Dash salt
    1 1/2 cups water
    1 1/2 cups milk*
    9-inch pie shell
    Butter

    Heat oven to 450°F.
In large bowl, combine all ingredients, except pie shell, in order listed.
Pour mixture into unbaked pie shell, and dot with butter.
Bake for 15 minutes; reduce oven temperature to 350°, and continue baking for another 45 minutes, or until done.

Not even an egg? How can that work? Reminds me of paper mache projects we did in grade school. You needed newspaper scraps mixed in to hold things together. lol

That sounds kind of like a gravy over the toast, at least if you put salt and pepper in the milk-flour mixture. Biscuits and gravy are a popular breakfast, and this would be similar, if made like toast and gravy, just without the sausage that is usually added to the gravy for biscuits and gravy.

Had a very simple supper tonight....fried potatoes & smoked sausage, topped with baked beans. Our kids remember it as "favorite supper.";)

When I was a kid we sometimes fed our outdoor cats bread soaked in milk, when we didn't any scraps available. We had 13 at one time.

Plain old cream of wheat, cooked with water, served with milk and sugar. Smoother than grits. I used to let it cool off first so it would get lumpy.
One has to fight with food, at least a little bit, imo. [IMG]

We liked the Dinty Moore Beef Stew! Plenty of tasty beef gravy with onions, potatoes and carrots. Could try adding green beans next time. 20 oz can served two.
