There is ""\live and let live" then there is "when in Rome do as the Romans do".
Are you a fan of Marx or Rand? Cecero or Cesar?

    Of course I'd be listening!

    It's WTF I'm here for...

I really don't know what to make of race other that the plain fact that I've never ever spoken to any functional adult who does not note the phenotypical stereotypes associated with what we consider "race".

I'm not grounded enough in biology/anthropology to know how science sees it, but when it gets down to it, we may not even be talking about the same thing. The phenomenon that I'm for convenience labeling "race" is individuals of one stereotypical phenotype observing individuals of another stereotypical phenotype, and noting the differences as *group-based* traits.

This phenomenon exists, so far as I can see, and always has since human-type sentience. I can even remember my daughter coming back from pre-school one day and noting that "Frieda has brown skin, Daddy." Now bear in mind that I'm Caucasian and my wife is of east Asian (Japanese) descent, via Hawaii, and that living in a fairly cosmopolitan locale she [EDIT: my daughter] has *always* seen individuals of all types.

Of course, I'd be interested in your opinions. As I said, it's what I'm here for.

And probably vice versa, All animal species prefer their own kind, yet they all get along with the other kind. My bird fountain proved this theory. Red, Blue purple and black all drink from it in peace then they separate, like us they have common enemy, the hawk.
I try to get along with all races, long as they don't expect anything from me but respect. I don't owe anyone anything, never treated anyone unkind because of their race.
I certainly had nothing to do with the black man selling his people all over the earth then only blaming the buyers for the evil of slavery. Africa still has slaves today, yet we don't hear about that. Why don't some of the ultra-rich black athlete's and movie stars take Sharpton, and his gang go over there and protest or at least help the people. Oh, that's right they only care about blacks where it is economically benefits them.
What I don't get is all the fake admiration from whites trying to prove they aren't racist, that alone is a sign of racism, Imo.
I wouls lov it if we all lived in peace but that is yet to happen.

OK so I missed it and spoke out of term. Tell me a philosopher you admire and I'll tell your fortune or introduce you to yourself. :D

    Fair enough...

    Let's see...

Nietzsche had some good understandings of basic human individual motivations, but his prescriptive stuff (how one should therefore live life) is far too Darwinian for a densely populated environment. I mean, we'd be killing each other as a matter of routine.

Marx did a great job of identifying post-industrial class friction, but again he falls down prescriptively when he thinks that there'll ever be a stateless society with production decisions made by enlightened and humane workers' councils.

Machievelli is dead center on the money in terms of how to manage power, but most of humanity can't use it as intended (for the powerful) but mainly for the situations as they arise within one's career--you vs your supervisor and vice-versa.

Sir Francis Bacon was "a tuned-in dude with a lot of good ideas" on the nature of the sources of knowledge.

There's a good ideological tension between Hobbes and Locke, so far as how an organized society might best function (I can see a bit of both as having merit).

Rousseau is a great example of what *won't* work.

Schopenhauer for a sense of what reality probably is.

Darwin for the mechanics of how structures evolve thru time.

    That's more than enough, huh?

    Hah!!!

I like lots of them, often for different reasons.

The Eagles are good, real good.

    Beach Boys

Stones and Beatles, for different reasons.

When grunge came around, I liked most of it.
