You sell yourself short Chrissy. You make a big difference in your children's lives. You provide a loving and protective atmosphere for their children that they can not find otherwise. Being able to trust the person they leave their children with is invaluable, and you do to many times very year. Money can't buy that kind of security. You know talent comes in many forms. I have seen so many bad, mixed up, or indifferent parents that you begin to understand that some wives/mothers really work at being good mothers. Your talent is in parenting, and now your grandchildren are benefiting from your talent. Show your pride in your abilities, and you will pass that along with the rest. You are worth more than you think.
I love the music of Philip Glass and have all his music on CD, he is not to everyone's taste being a contemporary minimalist composer, but the restless nature of a lot of it appeals to me. Here are a few of his more peaceful pieces
Philip Glass (above) is wonderful…another new-to-me. Thank you Terry Dawn is beautifully peaceful in the countryside. Quiet, soft, fresh…especially if walking down a country lane.
I love the music of Hans Zimmer who mainly composes music for movies, this piece from "The Last Samurai" exudes a peaceful calm in a yearning way I feel.
The photographer of the video above, wrote this, "Sunday Morning dawned crisp & clear & I just had to get out into the countryside & get the latest disasters in the news out of my mind. At a favourite venue, Middleton Lakes I found time to capture a tranquil video to share with you, as I played Rick Wakeman's gentle "Country Airs" album on my car stereo.
Let me stay in this peaceful place, Where there's never a worry nor care, Time is of no consequence here. Given the choice I'd always be there, The place where I can work hard, or not, The pace is solely determined by me, Time to count all the good things I've got, The attraction here is for all to see, When days are hard and I want some space, Let me stay in this peaceful place. Paul Fowler
This is my "go to" song when the storm clouds roll in and peace is nowhere to be found. Some weeks I'm humming it what seems like almost constantly. Thank you for this thread, @Terry Page ... today's the first I've seen it but it sure won't be the last.
Ah, thank you, @Joe Riley ! No one did it like Vestal... I had a version of her doing it saved a few years ago but haven't heard it for a while now.
"You'll Never Walk Alone" When you walk through a storm Hold your head up high And don't be afraid of the dark At the end of a storm is a golden sky And the sweet silver song of a lark Walk on through the wind Walk on through the rain Tho' your dreams Be tossed and blown Walk on Walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone
Aw, I like that one... it reminds me, not of Elvis, but of Jerry Lewis and the Labor Day telethon that no longer exists. Another very good example of things that offer peace.
