    In my studies of the Kabbalah, Adam is understood to have been the first Race , and does not refer to an individual at all .
    It is implied that this race was androgynous.
    Regardless,of whether that is accurate or not, the Hebrew Tanakh, - the original Bible, only states that Adam & Eve were a part of each other, and that neither was complete without the other.
    There are both barriers of language and translation here.
    Many " expert " translations of ancient manuscripts are more than a little imperfect.
