I gotta say for all the leg pulling around here @Hal Pollner , I agree with Frank, I think you're fantastic for you age..and I'm aware that sounds patronising, but I don't mean it to be..
Here are the Filter Pumps I've been using for the above-ground pools I've had in the past few years. Their flow rates are, left-to right, in Gallons per Hour: 330...330...530...1500...2400 I'm about to install the1500 GPH unit today. Hal
I don't approve pools above ground or below. For some they can be fun, allow good exercise, etc. But I don't like to get that close to a large body of cold waterwater or warm water for that matter. The last pool we had was in west Texas where the wind howled, the sand blew often. We had it filled in. Some places in the world don't need pools. My back yard was one of them.
@Beth, the pool has been up and running for 4 days with the 530 GPH pump. I'll install the new 1500 GPH pump tomorrow and give the 1200 gallons of water a complete recycling through the filter. The complete filtration of the pool will take less than an hour. Hal
@Hal Pollner Vigorous circulation of the water may increase the rate of disinfectant content. What type do you use? I use Trichlorotriazinetrione. Huge Chlorine percentage content. Frank
Ah but think of all the exercise you could have gotten not to mention the feeling of a personal achievement accomplished had you “painted da fence”. You might have even been able to compete with the Karate Kid, that is, after you “waxed on, waxed off, the cars.
@Bess Barber My wife would surely attest to that fact: Both her dad and I are said to "spit too much". Frank
