Thanks for trying to explain, @Cody Fousnaugh ... I guess I'm just not getting it today. :) My post asked for friends to talk with about something that has me discouraged OFFline... in email. That's why I said I wouldn't discuss those things in a public forum in the original post.

If you mean I shouldn't have suggested a health discussion, I don't understand. But I sure don't want a lynch mob after me, so.. I guess I'll back off. ;) I don't follow how it's on par with talking about a relationship, though (which I wouldn't do).... call me slow.

Again, thank you for weighing in here. (BAD pun... bad Mari !)

I've been thinking about getting one of those... I already have a treadmill. Do you have the impression that it would be a better choice than treadmill? I don't run or jog on it... just walk, sometime faster, sometimes leisurely.

Well it takes up less space than a treadmill and it's supposed to be a slightly better workout also but if you walk and move your arms, the treadmill is probably the same.

The part about not liking exercise machines... that would definitely be me, @Bonnie Thomas :) I've actually done very well with losing weight and there are just a few more pounds to go until I reach my major goal.

That's why the discouragement... my metabolism just stopped... I'm not losing on 1200 kcals any longer. Doctor won't let me go under that... increasing exercise didn't work either. I was okay with it for the longest time but now it's just annoying. Me: So what can I do?! Doc: I'm not sure

That is my thinking also. Your body starts to think .."Hey, something is going on" , so it starts to fight you and your metabolism shuts down. You have to trick it..

That's exactly right @Chrissy Page and @Bonnie Thomas , and it definitely works ..you don't have to eat much more, just a few extra calories for a couple of days...and then it jump starts the metabolism again and you start to lose the weight again..

@Mari North , They are exactly right. Don't diet every day, that way your body doesn't decide it's being starved. I also think a person can over do the exercise thing. Your body needs to rest and giving yourself a small treat helps too. I love pitted dates, they are sweet, have twice as much potassium as bananas, and they are like having a big piece of candy. I think talking about this is a good idea. Trying to stay healthy is an issue for all of us.

I'll also say that over the last two years, if it weren't for many on this forum, I would never have made it to this day. They gave me support when there was none around me. I am closer to many of these online friends than I have ever been to the people in my immediate world.

I have some health issues but generally I'm fine with my health. Although I have maintenance medication for my high blood pressure it seems natural for me already that I am not bothered anymore. I also have kidney stones since 2006 and for that I have been drinking sambong tea, that is a herbal concoction. Instead of buying the sambong pills, we planted sambong in the front yard so we get the leaves for free.

Having a good health is everybody's wish. Now I understand that being healthy is all about moderation. You can eat anything but eat in moderation. Likewise you can drink anything but also in moderation. Of course, avoid smoking and illegal drugs.
