I bought some CBD oil but have decided against taking it. If I start having issues or if I am prescribed a medication, I don't want to concern myself over potential interactions. And I didn't buy it to address any specific health problem.

edit to add: I just looked it up on Drugs.com and found this:

There are 585 drugs known to interact with cannabidiol, along with 2 disease interactions, and 2 alcohol/food interactions. Of the total drug interactions, 15 are major, 517 are moderate, and 53 are minor.

No, but I tried putting a cigarette on my arm once. That hurt, and I won't do that again. I can imagine if that was my belly button, it might make me forget about my other aches and pains.

You're supposed to use a bong on your belly button. Learning how to inhale that way takes practice...

If y'all got these, what do you think? Did it help your neck issues? Lately I've been having more neck pain, among other things. I notice some weird "pressure" at times at the back of my head just above my neck on both sides. I have had neck/disc problems in the past so I'm pretty sure those are just continuing to degenerate.

And speaking of aches/pains, etc., I'm still plagued by those terrible muscle cramps and spasms. A cramp in my thigh woke me up this morning so I am tired and cranky (which is my SOP more often lately.) I don't know why getting older has to be so unpleasant.

The neck thing is still sitting in my Wish List.

I'm sorry about your spasms. I recall that you said your potassium levels are OK. Is this issue still on your doctor's radar screen for further tests/discussion? (You may have mentioned this already.)

@Beth Gallagher - I feel your pain..Up at 3 am yesterday with the worst pain ever inside my right thigh area. I was hollering loud enough in bathroom Mark came in. Tried to massage leg and it only made it worse. I blame it on the once again upped dosage of Liptor.

Are you taking CoQ10? That's supposed to help with the muscle issue, and even if we don't get cramps from the statins, our stores of CoQ10 are depleted by them, so supplementing is always a good idea. I had been supplementing 200mg and a micronutrient blood test showed that I was still a little low, so I doubled the dose to 400mg.

I don't know if you've tried the other statins. Some time ago my GP decided to change me from Lipitor to Crestor, and I immediately got shoulder muscle pain, so I switched back. Just about 4 years ago I had a [supposed] mini-stroke (TIA) and the cardiologist took my Lipitor from 20mg to 40mg because of Lipitor's affect on blood platelets. I've tolerated the 40mg fine.

No, the issue was pretty much resolved by "test results normal." Doctor advised me to drink plenty of water, exercise and stretch. That was my PCP, and my oncologist pretty much said the same. I think I'm drifting into the Old People Lane where doctors want to pat my hand and tell me I'm not getting any younger. o_O

You might want to have a micronutrient blood analysis done, if for no other reason than for general purposes after all you've been through. I used a place that was way less expensive that the others and it tested for many more vitamins & minerals (although they did not test for potassium.) The direct cost was $600, but I found a pharmacy who is one of their vendors and it only cost $400. SpectraCell Labs is headquartered in Houston. I posted about them here, to include a list of what they test for.

My feet get sore, primarily from arthritic toe joints and loss of padding in the forefoot as we age. I am avoiding OTC meds because my mother used them to excess where she bled from both ends and had to have part of her stomach removed. My new Year's resolution is to push the issue with my doctor until I find some relief. I'm taking Meloxicam and Tramadol but they do nothing. I found Celebrex online but you need a prescription. It was once OTC but was taken off because it might be bad for the ticker or so they say. My questioning mind makes me think the OTC drug makers lobbied the gummint to make it prescription because it was too effective.

I think the high-powered NSAIDS are prescription because they are associated with cardiac issues and GI problems. Meloxicam is supped to the safest of those, and I am sorry you cannot find relief @Ed Wilson. Tramadol has been associated with seizures and can be addictive, since it is a synthetic opioid.

I think I had that, or something like it. They gave my potassium, calcium, and magnesium levels along with "regular" blood results. I think those (or some of them) are "snapshot in time" results, though.

And I don't believe there are "storage" tests for those nutrients, so you can determine what the blood level is, but you cannot tell what the tissues have stored and that may be the key. The only practical way to determine that is to take mild supplements and see if the symptoms go away. My magnesium and calcium blood levels are fine, but taking a cal-mag supplement occasionally reduces nighttime cramping for me. Magnesium seems to have more effect for me than calcium, but sometimes I take both and things get better. I took potassium for a while, but it had no effect, so an occasional banana is good enough.

It felt good when I first used it, but once I get to sleep I discard it, probably because I am not used to sleeping on my back.

The Micronutrient Test (MNT) blurb at SpectraCell says this:

What makes the MNT particularly relevant is that it takes into consideration a person’s biochemical individuality when assessing nutritional status. The MNT is performed intracellularly—it is not a static serum measurement—thus taking into account cellular absorption, metabolism and utilization in its nutritional evaluation of cell function, which correlates with tissue health and systemic health. Serum (extracellular) nutrients fluctuate wildly, are only a snapshot and tell you nothing about the functional health of cells. The MNT measures nutrient status, in the context of cellular function, over a period of 4-6 months. No other nutritional test compares.
