@Chrissy Cross I had no idea the central valley was that low. Around Phoenix, where much crop raising is done using flood irrigation, in summer a cool draft is felt while driving along a field growing some crop. Altitude vs. temperature is of course a generalization. But it does still apply. Kingman, 35 miles east of us, at 3500 feet, is unquestionably 10 degrees cooler than our area, nearly year-round. It also is desert. Our lowest AM temp this past winter was 36 degrees; Kingman had low 20s. Palm trees (which I love!) struggle there, borderline lows for them. My first winter in Las Vegas, 2072-73 it dropped to 11 degrees one night, and that killed all the palms which majestically lined Charleston Blvd. Frank
