I read that too. I don't know if they can listen if the microphone is not turned on or not. I remember OnStar doing the same thing, but they could turn the microphone on remotely without your knowledge and listen to what was going on in the vehicle. I don't know if Amazon, Apple. and Google can do that or not, but I would assume they can.
I won't have one, either. They say they are only listening to a few but I don't want to be one of those few.
I have Macs and an iPhone, so they come with Siri. Pretty much the only thing I have said to Siri was "Shut up, Siri." Every now and then, Siri thinks I am talking to it and starts telling me that it is unable to understand something or another, or it will start doing web searches that I never asked it to do. I would ask my computer Siri to play a song once in a while but whenever I try, my phone answers and I don't want to hear a song through my phone when I have a computer with better speakers sitting right in front of me.
Google, Amazon, Apple - busy snatching more and more personal information. I wonder if the sexual assault was reported to the authorities.
I have disabled Siri on my Apple devices, and Cortana or whatever that is called on a Windows OS. Also the camera on my laptop. I have no use for any of them.
Siri doesn’t like me and Cortana is somewhere playing around on the ethernet. Well, I assume that Cortana is out and about because I can’t find her when I call for her. Obviously I haven’t taken any precautions because frankly I’m not paranoid in the least bit. I mean, beyond performing a few animal sacrifices and walking around in ladies undergarments, I’m pretty much squeaky clean. Maybe they saw the time when I uh,....well, maybe not. Naw, I’m good......
My wife and I have both noticed that, repeatedly, things that we have talked about in front of Siri will show up in the ads we get on Facebook or elsewhere. Are we noticing the ads because we had just talked about the product or is the product being displayed because Siri overheard us? Making the connections wouldn't be difficult because our devices are all synced.
Cookies...cookies on the internet has a lot to do with it. Whenever you say ok to the cookies' message your surfing is being monitored and the ads start showing up whether your interest in the product or not.
My children got Amazon fire 7 for their birthday It has Alexa I told the children to use it but be careful of the information especially with politics, religion, global science and now geography. I told them to ask about their country Dominican Republic and they told us about France. Ask once more where is Dominican Republic it answered it is part of the island Hispaniola and has a shared border with Puerto Rico . Wrong with Haiti
