I don't want to keep harping on it but it's not quite right that I had to have a smartphone to use Amazon. The one log in option I was using required a smartphone. Other log in options didn't need one but I couldn't change over to them without being able to log in to my account.

I didn't mean to make this thread so tiresome and tedious. Sorry.

I've never logged into Amazon with my iPhone. I always do that via computer or Kindle.

We use our ipads, but before we had an ipad (back in the Dark Ages), we just used a regular computer. Obviously, that still works for most people, because even @Hal Pollner orders from Amazon with just his computer.
You might not be able to log into a prime video account, but I am sure that you can use any computer and log in to Amazon, because everyone has to have an email account to set up their Amazon account.
It sounds like all that @Dwight Ward does with his amazon account is watch movies, so closing the account is no great loss of he doesn’t want to watch movies on Amazon Prime anymore.

Maybe I’m heading the right direction or...maybe not.

If you so wish to use a phone to log into Amazon, the phone cannot be an Obama phone or a flip phone: It has to be something along the line of a “smart phone”.

That said, you do not even have to own a phone of any kind to log in using your computer, laptop, IPad, tablet, Chrome Book or even some Kindles. If perchance you do not have the whole Amazon application, then simply install the application, hit the unsubscribe button for Amazon Prime Movies and voila, done.

I've never had a iPhone and have done business with Amazon as my source of reading material and online buying. I've had some minor problems
with amazon but finally realizd I was going about things I didn't fully understand and on one or two occasions Yvonne helped me out, and the
    problem was handled promply.

This year Prime Day is June 21/22. I just noticed that they are offering several premium streaming channels for 99 cents a month for a max of 2 months (Starz, Showtime, PBS Documentaries, etc.) If you are a Prime member and familiar with Prime Video, check it out. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/video/storefront/ref=nav_shopall_nav_sa_aos?filterId=OFFER_FILTER=SUBSCRIPTIONS

Scroll down the page to the green boxes that say "Prime Day Deals". The offer ends June 22.

After the 2 months @ 99 cents/month the regular monthly fee applies, so be sure to cancel the subscription before the 3rd month starts unless you decide you want to keep the channel.

I decided to take advantage of this for PBS Documentaries. I really enjoy the Ken Burns docs and I dropped my PBS paid membership, so this will allow me to watch a lot of stuff for 2 months... for 2 bucks. :D

I remember last year when it was Prime Day, it was so busy that both the website and the app crashed and you could not even look at something, let alone buy anything.
We finally tried using the Amazon Smile website, and it was not as busy as the regular Amazon website. They do have some really good sales; but usually not for anything that we need.

I had been waiting on PD to buy a new Kindle. Then I saw the Fire 10 HD for the same price as a Paperwhite and said why not? :D So I still didn't buy my new Kindle but the day is young.

Yeah, I'm not seeing anything that I need, since I just bought a new Kindle not long ago. I think you'll be happy with the 10, @Beth Gallagher. It's considerably heavier than the 8 but it has a screen that is large enough for me to feel more comfortable doing online stuff with it. It's more like a tablet than an electronic book.

Not long ago, I was looking at a battery-operated lawnmower but it cost a little more than I was willing to pay at the time, although I considered it. I see that it's listed as a Prime Day item now, but the price seems to be about the same. I don't remember exactly what they were asking for it before but I know that it isn't on sale for a whole lot less now because it's still a little more than I want to pay.

I was just looking at fitness trackers; the Fitbit Sense is $199, which is $100 off. Of course I don't "need" another fitness tracker.

@Ken Anderson -- did you check Walmart and Target for deals on the mower? Apparently they are having their own versions of Prime Day. :D Also, you might find a deal on the mower if you can wait till the fall.

Thanks Beth! As of yet we haven’t used any type of hot food delivery but I’ll make sure and talk to Yvonne about it.

I have been shopping through some of the prime deals, and I found one of the new sodastream carbonation bundles on sale for almost half price, plus they offered the 3 monthly payments, so I ordered one, as well as a small water filter pitcher to use along with it.
We have an old soda stream that we have had for quite a few years, but it is hard to use, and the new models are much simpler. I really enjoy carbonated drinks, and even just plain carbonated water; but I do not like using either the plastic bottles or the cans.
I am looking forward to trying the new one !
