I guess because natural gas is plentiful and relatively cheap, they want to take that away from us, too.

For most, buying an electric stove is the least part of the expense of converting.
The home would need to have new, up to code, 220 wiring which would cost a couple thousand and if the panel didn’t have room for the new set of breakers, then a whole new box would have to be installed costing a couple thousand more and that’s only if the home itself is supplied with enough amperage to handle an additional 2 breakers at 30 amps each.

To expand on that a bit further, because of the basic principles involved with supply and demand, the price of copper wiring would skyrocket.
Just the breakers alone are already a problem. Two years ago I paid around $1 per amp for a breaker and now it’s around $2 and if suddenly everyone had to go electric, the price would undoubtedly triple or quadruple.
The production and price of stoves and parts would go up and the cycle goes on.

It seems to me that many, do nothing of importance, politicians are only trying to validate their existence by coming up with ideas that are not totally thought through.

I think it’s called AOC economics whereby some politician comes up with an idea without even one thought as to the number of negative ramifications involved with that idea.

Exactly. Why use natural gas, our most abundant and inexpensive resource, when they can make life harder for everyone.

I hope the heated sidewalks in that small New Hampshire town got completed before winter... the first "project" of Biden's ridiculous infrastructure plan. $20 million down the damn drain.

Whoever is head of the FDA needs to show that they are doing something, so they start a study. All Booker and Beyer did was write a letter. I wouldn't get all upset about it.

I suspect what states do with the infrastructure money is up to them within limits. If one has to get upset about the sidewalks, get upset with whoever in the small New Hampshire town decided what to do. Or better yet, don't get upset at all.

One can't expect everyone in the world to do exactly what one wants them to do.

More people should be getting upset about things that are getting pushed through congress. People sit back and let things happen, then wonder how it came to be.

Booker is a racist and has ONE agenda. Race does not need to be a part of EVERY discussion.

As I understand it, states have to apply for grants to get the infrastructure money (which doesn't actually exist; just observe the national debt clock running), so they can come up with any harebrained idea as long as they make it sound environmentally friendly. Silly me, I thought the "infrastructure" bill would actually be working on the power grid, utilities, and the highways/roadways/bridges that are crumbling.

I think MLK once said, "Your life begins to end when you stop standing up for things that matter." I think that is the quote.

Is Biden trying to destroy America ? Gas stoves/grills are the mainstay of restaurants/hotels across America.
The monthly elec bill for elec home stoves would be astronomical.

It does appear he and his administration IS trying to destroy America as we know it. Just his border policy is doing much to destroy the country, much less his energy policy.

That was exactly my reaction to hearing that on morning news before daylight. This is one pipe dream that won't fly, force people to pay three times more to cook their meals, which is exactly what will need to be done. And where will all the fossil fuel come from to fire the electrical grids, sheer absolute uneducated idiots. I know there is some way those responsible for the insane reasoning will get rich for voting yes. People need to stand up and say NO, not this time fool. On a good note the Republicans passed a bill that stops the crazy scheme for the IRS to be armed mobsters targeting the working class. They also said it was possible to completely phase out the IRS still knowing the dumbcrats in the senate could block it, but it is possible. A national sales tax is the plan to give all those jack booted morons the boot. That would be much better than starting a war within America. If they weren't so bad about spending all our tax dollars on foreigners and vote buying there would be plenty of tax dollars to run the nation. Targeting political enemies has been made a priority by those criminals who get their money illegally.

Think of how many people will lose their jobs if gas stoves are banned.
From the people who make the various types of gas lines to the people who actually build the stoves and various fittings not to mention the workers who supply the natural gas.
    A few million maybe?

Well, the "white house" is walking back on this today. I guess the backlash was louder than they expected.

Response from the American Gas Association on the claims related to gas stoves being hazardous:

"Any allegation that gas stoves exceed standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organization is patently false. Regulators, like the Consumer Products Safety Commission, should rely on real data and science not unsubstantiated claims of advocates," said the AGA statement.

What do they mean "Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organization"? What gives unelected agencies the right to create, pass and enforce legislation? Gee, I feel disenfranchised.

And who cares what the American Gas Association says about the factual basis of it all? So what???

The main reason for making you dependent on the grid to make a meal is that the grid can be shut off. If you have gas and a match, you can cook.
