    Thanks Babs..
I will post on here how the event went.. It is the very first time she will leave the house since she came home from the hospital..
One problem I can foresee is if she has to go to the toilet during the dinner.. That will pose a super real problem...
I will have to get one of the women to help her but can she get into the toilet with the wheelchair and only one foot ?? Will the wheelchair fit into the cubical of the toilet ??
The other option is................. CAN SHE HOLD IT ????

As soon as you get there talk to someone about the bathroom arrangements....I'm sure they will help you come up with a workable plan. :)

If not, then the other option will come into effect................

Well, we went to the Christmas dinner at the local legion and we were very pleasantly surprised..
The people were so helpful that I couldn't believe it.. They actually came right to the car door with a wheel chair and pushed her up to a table where she wouldn't get in the way.. They placed her in a chair with a pillow and gave her another chair for her leg with a pillow..
When it came time to go get the food, I went up and got her a plate first and then went back for myself.. They kept on asking her if there was anything else she needed..
When we left, they wheeled her down to the car door and helped her get into the car..
She didn't have to go to the toilet which turned out pretty good..
When we left, they gave us a HUGE container of turkey, brisket, stuffing, and a blueberry cheese pie to bring home..
They couldn't stop thanking us for coming.. They were so nice and polite.. They actually enjoyed helping her out when she needed it..
WOW !!! ........ All this from our legion who refused to take a penny for all the service and food.. All they wanted was a "Thank-you"...

We are off today to the hospital in Sudbury to have the fiberglass cast removed, staples taken out, an X-Ray taken of her ankle, a fiberglass cast installed and then a meeting with her surgeon to discuss her condition....

Yes it is good news about her ankle..
She had an X-Ray and everything is looking good.. The cast was cut off.. Staples came out..
Instead of another cast, the gave her a removable partial cast to wear if going out.. While she is in the house, keep the ankle open and exposed to allow it to heal and dry out..
She can shower without any protection.. She takes the partial cast off to sleep which is a big difference and much easier..
Next appointment is end of January for more X-Rays and perhaps the start of physiotherapy..
Still NO weight bearing till the end of January..

I took my wife out today for the first time since her ankle replacement.. She still can't weight bear on her ankle..
I took her to the mall.. I drove up to the door, put her in the knee scooter, got her into the mall, and put her on a bench in the mall.. I did my grocery shopping while she waited for me on the bench.. I then went and put the bags of groceries in the car and then brought the car up to the door.. I got my wife, and helped her back to the car on her scooter..
No problem at all so far..
She wanted a coffee so we went to Macdonald's where again she made it into the place and sat down on a chair.. Totally enjoyed a coffee while talking to the people..
Back in the car and home where she was very pleased with herself for actually getting around on her scooter..
The only problem was it was a bit nippy out.. It was -27c with a slight breeze giving a wind-chill of about -41c...
She wants to do it again next week when I go food shopping again..

Well, my dear wife is still not weight bearing on her ankle..
She manages to get around quite well with the knee scooter I bought her..
She is wearing a walking boot only for protection during the day not to bang it against something..
    Still no pain at all..
She would like me to take her out to the mall again while I do the food shopping on Friday (tomorrow) but they are forecasting freezing rain so we will be staying home and perhaps do the grocery shopping on Saturday or Sunday..

    Thanks..
It isn't easy living and not being able to put any weight at all on your left foot..
However, so far, she did it.. Yes, she has to hop on the right foot to maneuver herself to a chair or the toilet seat..
On the 25th, she has an appointment with her specialist at which point X-Rays will be taken to determine the next move which we at hoping is physiotherapy.. If that is the case, she will be in physio for several months at twice a week..
