No, they are emails. And I don't want to stop all tracking emails (or texts) from USPS, I just want to kill this one. I imagine it will die a natural death at some point.
So I placed an Amazon "next day delivery" order on Wednesday. The package was shipped via USPS from a facility in Humble TX about 30 miles from here. Yesterday it went to Bakersfield CA, to Moreno Valley CA, and back to Humble TX. Then today it went up to Dallas and someplace called Forney TX which I had to look for on a map. According to Amazon my item is "Out for Delivery" before 10 p.m. today but I beg to differ. Also, it appears that Amazon tracking can see into the future. Notice that the "Carrier Picked Up the Package" on Saturday, February 10 which is tomorrow.
They took something that was great and working perfectly for years and then new and improved it. Like new Coke.
USPS needs to shut down it's Notification and Tracking systems. Their service is fine here...my packages are never lost, they are never damaged and they arrive in a timely manner. But these inaccurate notifications set false expectations that do not need to be set. I ordered some probiotics, and keep my eye on delivery because I do not want them sitting in a hot mailbox. I got a notification yesterday that they will be delivered here in Virginia by 9PM. The did not arrive. Then I got a notification this morning that they left the Orlando FL USPS facility at 4:30AM and are en route.
I often get notifications that promise a delivery on a Sunday, but I have never received a delivery from USPS, UPS, or FedEx on a Sunday. Don't tell me it will be here on a Sunday because it won't arrive on a Sunday.
I get spam/phishing texts from them saying that my delivery info is incorrect which is why I am not getting a package I didn't order.
I've received a couple of those. They do not originate from the postal service. I've been getting texts telling me that my yoga class has been cancelled! Sure, I'm gonna reply and correct them.
