You mean my avatar pic? Flattery will get you everything. Yes, I'm quite an attractive guy. Could you say handsome instead of 'pretty' next time? ('pretty' makes me sound a little gay).

What a fantastic site! Look at this match to my photo.
Gorgeous, gorgeous and triple gorgeous. Thanks for posting the pic. I wonder if I could find any Blue Trumpet seeds this late in the season. I had never heard of the flower before now.

I seem to recall that the bananas we get in the store have a long maturation cycle, over a year, which means they can only grow in tropical regions.. These banana plants you all are talking about must have been bred for a shorter growing season. It would be great to slice up your own homegrown bananas for your cheerios.

Dwight, I believe you will need bulbs...not seeds. Any Nursery should be able to help you find some. They really are beautiful and every year we are getting more flowers blooming.

Beautiful. I'm jealous. I may turn into a flower thief.
Instead of Run For The Roses it'd be Run With The Roses.

Like most people, I supposed that those little stickers on store-bought tomatoes were put there by the grower. wholesaler, food store clerks - someone human anyways.

Imagine my surprise when those stickers showed up on my garden tomatoes! When the tomatoes are tiny you can't read the stickers because they're tiny too, but when the tomato gets bigger you can read them.

Those same boys who put in the genes to make GMO tomatoes tasteless evidently found a way to put in genes so that the tomatoes grow their very own stickers. It's amazing, really, especially since the stickers are plastic.

Soon to be put into the yard Garden is our plumeria plants, they are just starting to leaf. We have two, both purchase at Disney World in Florida.
The one with the big leaves we got about 3 years ago, the one with the leaves just protruding we got about 6 months ago.
We haven't seen flowers yet hopefully this will be the year.

A little excited I got my first green tomato of the year. It's a cherry tomato, 20220515_132825.jpg
I just potted this plant within the last week so it's all good.

I cannot think of any food item where the disparity between Store Bought and Fresh is greater than tomatoes. Eggs and corn-on-the-cob might be tied for second.

I cannot agree more, can't wait to make a fresh tomato salad, and sauce. Nothing like a fresh egg from the color of the yolk to the taste it's amazing. I remember reading that corn loses 20 to 30% of it sugar within an hour of being picked.

When we lived in Indiana, a neighbor let us help ourselves to his corn. We would get the water boiling, then pick it/shuck it/dunk it as quickly as possible. I've thought if I get my garden up & running and I grow corn, I'd have a propane burner, a pot of boiling water, and a tub of ice water out there so I could pick it and immediately blanch it before freezing it in order to stop the sugars from converting into starch.

Good idea, when I did grow corn the pot was boiling in the kitchen and we would pick it at any time of the day and eat it when done cooking it was a treat. Of course we save some for the dinner plate it's so delicious.
