It looks like the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis ) will be visible across a lot of the United States tonight, according to this map. Huntsville is sitting right on the line of visible.not visable, but I think that we have too much clouds in the sky to be able to actually see it in any case. Plus, we are usually in bed way before the best time to see this beautiful sky phenomenon. Anyway, here is the map, for anyone who is far enough north to see this , has clear skies, and is up late at night.
Dec 13, 2023 THE BEST METEOR SHOWER OF THE YEAR It's happening tonight. The best meteor shower of the year is expected to peak on Dec. 13-14 with no Moon to spoil the show. I guess this is almost as good a place for this tidbit: One of our planets was first named…George, and stayed that way for several decades. Yup, Sir William Herschel discovered a planet somewhere around March of 1781 and named it after his benefactor, King George. The name was ironically changed to…Uranus.
