I'm having an issue trying to change my avatar. I've never had this problem before... the suggested size for an avatar is 200 x 200 pixels, so I resized the image. When I try to upload I get this error... Your avatar's file size is too large. Please upload an avatar no bigger than 50 KB. However, the "tea sipping" avatar that I'm using now is 126 kb so I don't understand why it won't upload the picture that is 200 x 200 and 76 kb. Any ideas?
I just don't understand why one that is larger will post but the smaller one doesn't...???? I hate trying to figure out annoying stuff.
Me too. It took me a while to get my avatar in the right position. I just kept rotating it until I finally got it right and except for the original I deleted all the others that didn't upload right.
I'll just putz with it. I thought you might know of some software change or something. It's not important unless others have a problem, too. Thanks.
That's the strange piece... it's not a large file in dimension nor pixels. I'll mess with it again later.
OK, I cleared cookies, cache, etc. and tried again. Nope. So I converted the .png file to jpg and then it uploaded without a problem...???? I know I have used png files before so not sure what the deal is. Anyway, my fabulous New Year avatar is good to go.
Although I think I've used PNG files for my Avatar before, I know they are larger (in KB) than corresponding JPG files.
Tell me how you did that. I have a lot of photos that say they are not supported by the format and I want to see if converting to .jpg will help.
There are online converters, or if you have the Paint application on your PC use "open with" Paint, then when saving the file chose "save as." So it would be: 1. Open file explorer (file list) and find the file 2. Left-click on the name of the file; a drop down list should appear 3. Choose "Open With" and a list of possible applications should show. If you have Paint it will be in the list. Click on Paint. 4. When the file opens, you can manipulate it (resize, etc.) or simply just choose FILE, then from the drop down, "SAVE AS." You should see the list of file formats to choose. Be sure to save the picture; you can rename it or not. Here's an online converter... https://cloudconvert.com/jpg-converter
