Pig Candy (candied bacon) Simplest recipe uses just brown sugar and bacon. Chopped pecans sounds good too.
This thread reminded me of a product I bought recently. I have always liked keeping bacon grease to use for flavoring beans, etc. Trouble is, we don't fry/eat much bacon anymore so I decided to try this... I actually like the product; it is filtered, strained bacon grease and is shelf-stable. It has a nice bacon flavor.
Biscuits just gotta have lard or bacon grease! To be sure, I like the concept and will ask Yvonne to look for it on our next grocery order. My doctor probably won’t like it but I figure that since he and I are not in a committed relationship nor am I married to him I can cheat a little once in a while.
Does anyone know what a Bacon Buddy is? I have seen it in fiction from the UK, especially Scotland. Is it just bacon in bread or is there something more?
Butty. UK No, I didn’t know it off the bat so I had to look it up and come to find out, I’ve been slamming down something akin to it most of my life. Just a bunch of bacon on a biscuit, roll or bread with butter. I use mayo instead of butter.
I had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich for breakfast. It was good. I used whole wheat bread, so it was healthy.
That one I didn’t have to look up. UK’s is a loin cut whereas ours is pork belly which also means ours is fattier. Now, whether they use a smoking process like we do or not is a Master Butcher Google answer or…maybe someone from the UK can speak up.
