THAT was the subject of the thread I was on. A guy was throwing a party and there was some issue as to why he could not harvest enough squirrels in his area. He was looking for idea. He got lots of offers to hunt for him, but no one lived nearby. And there were links like you posted, with similar prices.

    Hokey smoke, Bullwinkle!

Although, you must admit it could be a good source of income for you, harvesting raccoons.

I posted a video in Yvonne's Raccoon thread about a woman who's property was overrun by over 100 of the critters. She was quoted $500 each to get rid of them. Can you imagine getting paid that much per critter, and then selling them for that kind of money????

The same goes for squirrel. I watched a Virginia Dept of Wildlife Resources video on dressing squirrels. The guy pulled the skin off of it in one quick motion. Easy peasy.

Let me catch those squirrels that are chewing on my shutters and I'll skin them in one quick motion too! :D

I ate plenty of squirrel in my youth. These are scrawny city squirrels. No meat on them.:p:D

I asked about diet impacting taste, because mountain deer that eat roots & acorns taste gamey, while flatland deer that eat crops are grain fed & tasty. I was told that all squirrels are pretty tasty. I do wonder about the fat content (meaning I recall there being some issue with a steady diet of rabbit because they are so lean.)

Jakes whole family has eaten squirrel called it squirrel purlow. Jakes mother would tell him to go hunt a bird, clean it and she'd cook it, she raised 5 sons and two daughters.
He one of those country boys who can survive, for sure just watch the menu, like I did when I visited them. But if I got hungry enough, I may feel different.
