A few weeks ago we were talking about Edgar Allan Poe on another thread. It got me to thinking of this song. John Stewart, formerly of The Kingston Trio. "The Raven" Sunrise, coloring the highway Your eyes, sleeping in the sun And when you rise and listen to the song again Then you'll know, that the wings have come Dark wings, shadow on the highway The wind sings, following the sun And when you rise and listen to the song again Then you'll know, that the wings have come There are wings, of the raven on the wind There are wings, of the raven on the wind Tugging at my lifeline Calling me again A long rain, is following the sunrise A slow train, beckons like a drum And when you rise and listen to the song again Then you'll know, that the wings have come There are wings, of the raven on the wind There are wings, of the raven on the wind Tugging at my lifeline Calling me again And when you rise and listen to the song again Then you'll know, that the wings have come There are wings, of the raven on the wind There are wings, of the raven on the wind There are wings, of the raven on the wind
Absolutely beautiful, @Shirley Martin ! I remember my mom and dad harmonizing on this song when we went somewhere in the car and they were singing, and I was a little girl. Singing in the car was something that I always enjoyed, and when I had my children, we always sang in the car when we traveled, too. Red River Valley has forever been one of my favorites, and that harmonica is perfect for the haunting melody. Another one that my folks sang all the time , also a dear favorite, is Springtime in the Rockies.
