I agree! (Except with the rye toast thing, haha. ) I bought a "bun pan" a couple of years ago and have never used it, so I suppose I should attempt homemade hamburger buns in the near future.
@Beth Gallagher My wife is now actively working on me to accept KETO hamburger buns, which apparently are some kind of "fake" dough", says you can't tell the difference. My reaction is: if that's the only KETO I consume, why bother?? Frank
I haven't heard of keto buns, but I don't bother with that stuff. I have had low-carb bread and tortillas that tasted OK, though. I know a lot of dedicated low carb/keto diet enthusiasts use nut flour or coconut flour, flax, etc. to replicate wheat flour in recipes.
I have posted elsewhere that I bought a new, more compact Cuisinart bread machine about a month ago. Today I'm making pizza dough for the first time in the new machine. I have a LOT of flour that I hoarded last spring during the Great Pandemic Hoard of 2020, so I "knead" to get bakin'.
Bread, warm from the oven. Not much of a bread eater myself, but this was irresistible...ate a small slice and it was good.
