Everything about the nuns seemed Catholic to me in the show but what threw me was the priest who wore the same type of collar Catholic priests do but he asked a midwife on a date to a dance. Also, later I noticed he was called Reverend and not Father....so 2 clues and then I decided I better look it up.
Yes all very confusing Chrissy, that's why I switch off from it all If he's a reverend I presume he's a Vicar, they wear the collar and can also marry
I'm in season 5....1960-61....3rd Thalidomide baby delivered..they don't know yet the cause. The other 2 on the show survived but this one was the worst...couldn't even tell if male or female...baby died.
Have not watched this show in long time...but the woman who plays Chummy...had a comedy called Miranda I really liked. She was funny also.
Well I finished the 5 seasons on netflix. Bought season 6 on Amazon for $16.99 and just finished that and now I'm sad...that was one of the best series Ive watched in awhile. Any suggestions for something similar? Not Downton Abbey...couldn't get into that.
Well, I decided on something very different. I could never get into "The Walking Dead" but I'm watching it now. I just skipped season one, read what it was about on Wikipedia and started with season 2 and I'm liking it. Got past my hurdle of the first few episodes this way...might do this with other series too.
@Chrissy Cross Call The Midwife is still going which is good. I'm not sure what else is out there. Have you watched "The Royals" It's like Dynasty a bit. Though nothing really compares to Dynasty.
There has been as much adoration for a series called 'The Crown' on Netflix (as much as the Midwife series) You could give that a look Chrissy
I'm liking "The Crown". Although because English history isn't my strong point I have to look things up. @Patsy Faye ...in the show it has Prince Andrew's mother wearing a nuns habit at the wedding but reading online I read she wore that at Queen Elizabeth's coronation...what's the truth?
Yes Princess Alice, the Mother of Prince Philip, a tragic figure, I liked her She was sent to a sanatorium and eventually did charity work and founded a convent of nuns That's why she wore the nuns habit at her son's wedding
Thanks! Glad I have someone to ask the historical questions. I'm looking so much up, lol. I just saw that Harriet Walker played Clementine in The Crown and sister Ursula in Call the midwife.
I just realized that "The Crown" season 2 is out on Netflix...hope it's as good as the first season. Came out Dec. 8, don't know how I missed it. I'm a happy camper now...binge watching time again.
