Thanks for letting us know what is happening with you, @Ken Anderson. I hope you know we're all concerned and are praying for the best outcome. I agree with Frank, you have an amazing attitude about your situation. I'd be raging, despite knowing that wouldn't do any good. I hope Michelle's holding up well, it must be difficult for her, too.
Yeah. Monday, the 23rd, I will be going in for a Thyrogen injection, with a second one the following day. Wednesday, the 25th, I get the radioactive iodine dose. Then I have to live alone for a few days, or until I no longer glow in the dark.
And so it begins...wishing you all the best @Ken Anderson! May everything go smoothly and easily. Let us know how you're doing when you get a chance.
Be well and safe, @Ken Anderson , our prayers go with you in this and hoping that it does what it is supposed to do.
If you're going to glow in the dark then you won't need any night lights to see your way to the bathroom, etc. Prayers going for you that all turns out just fine for you Ken.
Thanks. I'll probably be online a lot because the medical stuff takes a very short time, so I'll mostly be sitting here in the hotel room with little else to do, other than work.
@Ken Anderson - I am sorry, that I missed this whole thread, until now. I add my prayers a good wishes to the pile!
Good Morning @Ken Anderson Are you doing okay? How did your first day and night go with that treatment? Are there any side effects from it? Do they have room service where you are staying and free movie channels? It must feel strange to not wake up with Michelle and the "Kiddies"....how long did you say you have to stay apart from them? I know Michelle will talk to you when you get home, but are the cats the kind that will ignore you because you have been away from them?
He can talk on the phone with his cats...I sometimes say "hi" to Pickles when I'm away and my daughter is watching him. He can FaceTime also if he has that feature or skype. But Pickles doesn't seem to get it so don't know if his cats would. I have another question though....since you're staying away from Michele and Cats, what about the hotel staff, etc?
So far, there's just been the one Thyrogen injection, and another in about a half hour that I have to go for. There are no reactions to that at all. They tell me that radioactive iodine won't have any noticeable side effects either but the fact that I have to stay away from other people for a few days doesn't make me feel confident about that. That will be tomorrow. As for the cats, I have a pet cube that will let me talk to my cats and see them if they come within the camera view, but I haven't used that yet. I had forgotten to set it up, but my wife is at home right now, and she has said that she would do that for me. The actual suggestion was just that I sleep in another room, and that we not spend the whole day with one another. I am taking it further, to stay in a hotel, mostly because of the cats, who will insist on being near me otherwise. I will be using my own sheets, which will later be washed separately, so that's sufficient. I won't be exactly nuclear reactor radioactive.
I'm sad. I was looking forward to pizza or something incredibly salty after all this time on a low sodium diet. However, I learned today that I will have to remain on the low sodium diet for another five days. I have taken the radioactive iodine and I will learn tonight whether or not I glow in the dark.
Five more days and I say go and get your favorite pizza and enjoy every bite of it! And if you glow in the dark...can you take a picture and show us?
@Ken Anderson Get you some "No-Salt" and sprikle it on whatever would taste better saltier. It contains no Iodine like common table salt. Ask the Doctor first, of course!
Actually, I can have salt. I just can't have iodized salt. However, most products don't start whether the salt they use if iodized or not. I have some Kosher salt, which is non-iodized.
