Candied Ginger

    These don't really seem like candy, Yvonne. It's more like thin sliced ginger that has been dipped in sugar crystals. My mother used it in baking but I never remember just eating it from the package.

    I could barely stand the heat of it, and I just had the tiniest bite. My husband tossed a whole piece in his mouth and said it was "OK." I don't know how it wasn't burning his tongue. :D

    Very different then. the ones we had were more like a gumdrop, with with a nice ginger flavor to it.

    I found a method online to make a simple syrup with the candied ginger, so I have some steeping. I'm going to use it to sweeten tea and see how I like it.

    The simple syrup is much better; it gives hot or iced tea a little "zing" without the heat of the ginger. (I will be asking my friends if any of them would like a bag o'ginger, however. :D)
