Oh the wombles were a a group put together by songwriter/conductor and musician Mike Batt., here in the UK... from the children Book series by Elizabeth Beresford They were a a big hit for kids in the 70's or 80's... and are still remembered with great affection to this day... there was also a TV series of cartoon adventures and of course all sorts of merchandise were made to be sold for children of each individual womble They were called the Wombles of Wimbledon Common ( an area in London).. and were first used to help promote litter picking in the London area.. and released quite a few songs for the Uk charts.. such as... ...and the cartoon series....
