Because I work online and use two monitors in my work, as well as checking in with the forum and Facebook from time to time. I can manage with one, but it slows me down.
Comfort is a factor for me - couldn't sit here and watch a laptop screen, the pain would be too great I like to settle down of an evening and watch pre recorded shows
No, I could not deal with a laptop for anything. Tiny screen. No mouse. Yuck! My 15inch monitor is as small as I would go, and will likely be upgrading eventually, now that I know my PC can handle a bigger one.
Wow. Got no idea how you can handle two monitors, and all that, at the same time! So are you also watching TV too? That is some juggling! I sometimes have my TV on (and a music CD playing through it) for background noise, as I fool with the PC.
There is a way to send send/transfer TV shows or movies on the PC to a your TV, but I don't know how to do it. Maybe someone here does. My monitor is as good as my TV, sometimes better, so I'm okay with my set-up.
One of them is an ultra-wide screen so it fits a browser window and my text editor without making either of them too small. Depending on what I'm doing, sometimes I don't need both monitors and use the other one for the forum and Facebook.
Still way more than I could handle. Just listening to background noise (CDs playing through my TV) while I'm on the PC is sometimes too distracting. Maybe the ADD or Dyslexia, but I have to maintain pretty tight focus on whatever I'm doing, to get it done.
I pretty much always have a movie or television series going. Depending on what I'm working on, sometimes I'll just binge-watch something that I've seen several times before, like The Waltons or Little House on the Prairie, so that I don't have to pay close attention, and I often have to restart movies of episodes. When I am working on category descriptions, that requires more of my attention, which means that I have less of it available for the television, but when I am adding website listings or updating site descriptions, those aren't so demanding.
Funny story. I woke up at my computer attempting to watch a movie online but kept dosing off. Giving up I decided to turn in for the night. As I was making my rounds turning off lights, closing blinds, etc. Johnny was intensely into an old classic western movie. I was still drowsy as I was reaching over to unplug the potpourri pot when I heard these words, "I'm goin' to hell." "This will make you feel better." What was the writer thinking?! I laughed so hard, snortin', tears rollin' and my stomach hurt so bad... When I was able to compose myself I asked Johnny - who was chuckling at me laughing - "What is the name of this movie?" It took him a minute to respond with 'The Naked Gun" a 1950s movie. Now if you are a real classic western movie buff you'll know this scene.
Ran across a few old TV shows on bitchute: https://www.bitchute.com/video/66Abww1MwqfH/ ...a competitor to youtube. Site looks interesting, so I'll start exploring it. Another rival is https://www.dailymotion.com/us. An alternate access source is https://hooktube.com/, which allows one to watch Youtube videos without logging in, thereby blocking YouTube from collecting and storing any type of information on the user.
