In the reviews, I found that most were pleased by their appearance and the light they made, and if they had written the review then, would have given 5 stars. Most were so taken, that they began replacing more lights in their home, thinking they were on a crusade of sorts. I had quite a time, equating the appearance and the bright light with the flimsy, under-engineered look of the interior. By contrast, the light in the log cabin was originally installed in 1939, when the house was electrified. it was brass, with a porcelain socket. I moved it to the cabin room 10 years ago. I tried a ceiling light with 3 spot lights in the Kitchen, but the light from it was inadequate. I replaced it with the one that crashed to the floor.
@Yvonne Smith - I have decided that you may be right, and for the time being, let things as they are. I have installed both lights, so rather than going through that again, I will leave them up and pass along progress reports. Thank you!
Do you remember when anything made in Japan was a piece of junk? Nowadays they make some of the best quality things of anybody.
WE had to replace our 4 ft. fluorescent tubes in a bathroom last year. the LED lights we put in are much better.
After doing more checking, I found that these lights are not recommended for the bathroom, as they are not damp proof. If could be that some of the failures were because of this.
I'm glad you decided to keep them @Joe Riley...I really am looking forward to the report from you of how long they will last! And hoping I will live that long to get that report.
I think this is the one we have. Much better than those flourescent tubes. http://www.homedepot.com/p/64-Watt-...-Flushmount-4-Inch-Linear-Lite-Puff/205210545
