This is definitely a western classic, Ghost Riders in the Sky. I remember hearing the Frankie Lane version when i was growing up, and later Johnny Cash, and several others that i don’t remember; but this version is by Marty Robbins, who has to be the ultimate cowboy/trail song singer of all. I used to have several albums of his Gunslinger albums back when we had records.
When I came up from Milwaukee, I got my first farm job. I am originally from NYS and did not DO country music. Welllll, the radio was always on to keep the cows happy and it was a country station. At first, it was just annoying noise but after a while, I started listening to the words. I LOL'd even before lol was a thing. It was true! If you played a country song backward, the guy got his dog back, he got his job back, he got his wife back...Then I started paying more attention and the stories could be moving--Ya picked a fine time to leave me Lucile... Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton --all the new to me artists--they were great! I went to line dancing classes!... I was such a snob.
