I have a 65 year old friend who is an American citizen but came from Persia (Iran) and yesterday we were talking about the way the laws have nearly always run in his homeland. Prior to the present theocratic regime under the hayatollah, the young men involved with throwing the acid in a child’s face might not have been shot on the spot if they can be caught alive. They would have sat in a prison for perhaps a few years until their actual punishment for their deeds are decided. The punishment had to fit with the crime. As an example, if a person is a thief, he or she would lose a hand or a whole arm. Without allowing my brain to dwell in the subject too deeply, I do wonder what punishment they would have come up with? Note: Today in Iran, they might be allowed to go free if it was sanctioned under Sharia law.
OMG another and worse attack on a Baby.. I can barely hold in my rage and horror !! A six-month old baby boy was kidnapped, set on fire and dumped near train tracks in Louisiana last week. Baby Levi Cole Ellerbe was kidnapped on July 17 after two people came to mother Hanna Barker's trailer door just after 9pm and sprayed her in the face with what she believed was mace. Instinctively, the Barker ran to get away, a statement from Natchitoches police said, and when she went back home, found her infant son was missing. Police said the search for baby Levi began immediately, with additional officers from surrounding precincts called in to help. Unfortunately, less than 90 minutes after Levi went missing, police were alerted to a fire nearby the railroad, where they found a badly burned six-month-old boy. Levi was rushed to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in a critical condition but died on Wednesday from his injuries. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...apped-set-fire-left-dead-railroad-tracks.html
..and update on the Acid attack...seems the father might have been behind it... The father of the three-year-old boy doused in acid while shopping with his mother has been arrested and is being questioned over the attack. The 39-year-old suspect, an Afghan asylum seeker who has not been named, was the first suspect detectives held after the boy was targeted while sitting in a pushchair during a shopping trip to Home Bargains with his mother. Three other younger men are also being grilled in connection with Saturday afternoon's horrific attack in Worcester after they were arrested 130 miles away in Walthamstow. They are reportedly eastern Europeans from the Romani community and accomplished bare-knuckle fighters, their east London neighbours said. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...acid-attack-boy-tracked-asylum-seeker-ex.html
In Louisiana, it’s doubtful if the perpetrators of the crime will ever be seen or heard from again, that is, unless the police get to them first!
Sorry. I didn’t read the link but saw my home state and know pretty much how things go in that part of the U.S. A lot of criminally minded people are fortunate if the police arrest them. My bad......
