I think it's the same principal as Catholics honoring Mary, the mother of Jesus. They pray to her. Some people say that Catholics worship Mary which they say is not appropriate. But, as I see it, they ask Mary to intercede with Jesus (And God) because, as his Mother, she will have direct access to Him.

Ok, since I only lived in the UK for 4 years, I came up with 3 possible words.
Course, here is the group I hung out with...

 

I actually dressed as the 'Village Idiot' once for a fancy dress party in the UK.
Handkerchief hat, wellies on the wrong feet, sweater/white shirt and shorts.
Had a 'Grand Time'.
