Then I may be technically wrong about Oregon being the worst. The point is that Oregon is very racist. Maybe the same is true of Montana.

I don't know about the level of racism, only the percentage of black population. I don't see how an entire state can be branded "racist" in any case.

I would like to know which nitwit news outlet started the “secret police” thing? If they are visible, doing whatever job they’re doing and everyone in the whole world know’s they’re there, how the heck can it be the secret police?
Just another dose of fear mongering by the media.

There is one section of the article I posted that I disagree with.
“Portland police overreacted at people throwing bottles at them,” Hardesty said. “They started gassing whole neighborhoods. They were doing that long before the feds showed up.”

I don't think you can 'overreact' to having a bottle thrown at you. A filled thrown bottle could be life-threatening if you're not wearing a helmet. There are instances of the police inciting the violence and instances of their just reacting to it. I don't know which is more prevalent.

Many news outlets and many city politicians are using the term. If the police wear no insignia of a police organization and will not identify themselves by name, they are 'secret'.

Yes, let's paint everyone in the state with that wide brush. And I'd venture to guess that you haven't lived in the deep south?

Another case of “semantics”? The city, state and federal uniforms are totally different. I know which ones are which so if that one in black and a covered name tag is banging on my head because I threw a bottle at him, I’ll know him as the federal guy.

We're disagreeing because I used the term in a shorthand way, instead of taking two pages to describe a more nuanced opinion. You're very tough on me, Beth.

And yes I have lived in the deep south. I used to spend summers with my mother's family in North Carolina - picking tobacco , gathering eggs from the scattered chicken nests in the fields and walking barefoot down the long dirt road into the closest town. My mother's family were very poor but were proud of the fact that they weren't black.

So, because you know him as a 'federal guy' ( who won't give his name ), that makes him not secret? More than just semantics, I think.

You say you need their names when they have ID numbers. The only reason they want their names are do dox them so they can go to their homes and intimidate their children and wife these sick cancel culture they are sick people who want to threaten anyone who disagree with them.

They are not showing any ID numbers, names or insignia of their unit. They are secret police.
Cancel culture is, indeed, sick as is anyone who would threaten a policeman's family because of his actions. Do you have instances of this taking place?
