Serious things I sometime wonder about, such as, is a small city larger or smaller than a large town? I'm sure there is a competent answer somewhere. In my mind of minds, the one that instantly telegraphs answers to me in the flick of an eye blink, small cities should be larger than large towns. I have not examined the definations of towns and cities but on the surface a town is a small cluster of people and a city would be the larger population concentration, or something like that. I suppose in the scheme of big and small things that matter it really doesn't matter at all. Except sometime where we live or would like to live, as previously stated, is outweighed by our needs and likes regarding employment. And after all, as also was previously stated, large cities are collections of many smaller communities and living in one of those communities may not be too different from living in a small town unless of course you wanted to go out and watch the cows being milked or feed the chickens in the barnyard. I must retreat and say good bye now because I ramble.
That's how I feel, I don't live in all of Fresno just my small area of it and everything I need or want is contained there.
That's because it differs from state to state, and country to country. In most states, a city is one that has incorporated as such, and they might specify a minimum population number in order to qualify as such. Some states have incorporated villages, towns, and cities, generally in that order, by size. In others, an unincorporated settlement, such as a dot on the map, is known as a village, and in others, it might be a town. North Dakota once had villages, towns, and cities but the ND legislature incorporated them all as cities in the 1970s, including some with populations less than 100. Maine has towns and cities, but the difference is in whatever type of incorporation they chose.
No I would not want to live in a large city. My past experiences in cities like Chicago, Atlanta, Raleigh, NC, D.C. and a few others proved that big city living isn't for me. Even though I enjoyed my stays there all were overwhelming compared to where I live now. Hey I still get lost here. I'm fine with just visiting big cities for a few days.
