Except on television, I didn't see an ice cream truck until I was nearly twenty and living in California. The best I had, as a kid, was the soft serve at Lauermans in Marinette, Wisconsin; that, and homemade ice cream. We do have an ice cream truck here in Millinocket during the summer, but he doesn't go street by street; rather, he parks it at Memorial Park or at any activities that may be going on.
There is a Gifford's in Bangor, Maine. I've never been there but I've heard that it's good. If it's the same one, it looks like they are only in Maine, now.
