I never have, Lon. Is People Search a website? Do they charge for the service? Have you looked yourself up?
Just enter your name in a Google or any browser search and you will discover the People search. Yes I have looked myself up. https://www.peoplefinders.com
I found one website that gives details, but they are not all correct. I found a relative when I searched directly on that site, but did not find him in a general web search. Correct Info -Birthday -Current Address (including street number) -Previous address Incorrect Info -Marital status -Political party registration...we don't register party here in Virginia (although they guessed affiliation right) -Net worth Interesting Stuff -My reputation is 38% below the national average (2.28 out of 5) -People affecting my reputation include: --91 year old neighbor who passed away in 2012 and who likely never even saw a computer --His wife who passed away 3-4 years ago and who also likely never even saw a computer --Everyone whose address is next door to mine I ran a full report on myself, but you gotta create an account to see it.
I found my birth mother by way of peoplefinder, after a newly discovered cousin supplied her last known town. With the street address, I was able to get a Google maps street view image of the house she was living in, and a possibly current phone number (it was correct). Never got to meet her, but we did talk twice before she passed that same year. But most of the other people (high school friends, old flames) I have tried finding are savvy enough to know how to keep most of their info off such search sites.
The only friends I have, my high school graduation classmates of 1968, are on Facebook. Actually, it's sort of weird, but some of my classmates have the same facial look and hairstyle they had in 1968. A number of the heavier ones, are still heavy. I seen one classmate in 2008 and she couldn't believe it was me. I was huskier and longer hair. When I graduated, I weighed 98 pounds, with very short hair. Today, 212 and long hair (however, not over my ears or down my neck/back). Funny, but my BIL (wife's brother) told us that he hasn't been to a Class Reunion in years. He said "I want to remember my classmates as they looked when we graduated, definitely not the way they look now."
All of my family use this handy app. Just say the name of the person you want to find and their location shows up, even if out of state.
That's interesting and kinda scary all at the same time. I make less use of the technology in smartphones than anyone I know. I only have one app that I personally installed (was not on the phone when I bought it): Walmart.
This is an Apple iPhone app, and also on iPads and maybe on Mac’s , too. It does two things. It can track all of your devices, so if one is lost or stolen, it can help you find it. It comes installed on all of the Apple devices. The other thing is to share with your friends and family where you and they are at. I have all of my family on this, so they can always see where I am , and I can tell whether they are home or at work. My friend in Idaho who has heart problems, ended up in the hospital a while back, and I could see that she was in the hospital and called her right away to see if she was okay. I have put names of places on mine, like home, walmart, fitness center, so it makes it easier for my family to tell where I am at. I really, really like this app !
I use it occasionally... especially if I am worried about why my hubby is late coming home. I can see where he is, and if he's driving, it displays a map and shows his progress along the way. When he drops me off for treatment and goes home, I call to let him know when to pick me up. I can then see his progress and know when to walk down to the drop-off area of the facility. (So I don't have to wait outside in the cold or heat.) I posted earlier that the iOS 15 update that is coming soon will have the ability to track a phone or device when it is powered off. Not sure if that's a good thing or not.
Kinda makes you wonder what "powered off" means. As you know, the app just gives you access to what they've already been doing for a very long time...creepy ba$tard$.
What good does it do to worry about it ? I don’t power any of my devices off, because I want to be able to be contacted at any time by my family, or to call them if an emergency comes up. If Apple, Amazon, or the government wants to track me, I am pretty sure that they have been able to do this for some time now. Since they can track me in any case, I just use the app for my purposes and don’t worry about what they are doing. If we are in a car wreck or a tornado blows the house down, I WANT to be found !
If I had little kids, they wouldn't leave the house without one of those tracking discs safety-pinned somewhere on their person.
