I can handle a-holes no problem. They're everywhere, so a person has to handle them or not go anywhere or mingle with any group.
That sounds ok, except I can't listen on my radio. I'd have to use my laptop, or phone. I really like something with a time setting come to think of it in case I fall asleep. Archive.org is the site then John? Or type in the "internet archive bbc radio drama"? Two separate places I guess hey? I'll go look now Thanks much!
I grew up with my parents being CBers.. Citizen Band radio people. Then when i went work at Intl Harvester my two girlfriends and I would swap driving back an forth to work- we all worked at same place. We had the radios on ours autos. Us along with other cb radio people would meet early of morning before work to chit chat, eat and swap stories. We each had our own cb handle name...mine was Red Alert in reverence to my flaming read hair ..awe lovely times those were.
How neat that you learned how to do that! My X had one and I never really wanted to learn, at the time, but now I want to learn the HAM radio at least
I just found out I get to join the class for HAM Radio on Monday in a Zoom meeting!! It's all free, even the book is free. My friend that turned me onto it all called me earlier and said not to be afraid of all that I saw I had to learn. He said that is not as hard as it sounds, and so I am going for it! I need things to keep me busy during what it seems to be Winter year round here. The minute we started having 70 degree weather, the lightning started, high humidity and fires arggg! So now it's getting cold again, and the wind is usually blowing here on the coast.
Good for you @Denise Evans ! I wish you all the success. Now when you look at the prices of new HF radios.... You might be able to pick up a used one from your new HAM friends.
I know I'll be wanted their input for sure I just want a hand-held one, like the one I think you showed me?? Plus, the guy I met in the doctors office had a hand-held and quoted me an affordable price for one

LOL. When did we switch to Monopoly??? And you're the shoe!!! I grabbed one (or maybe a pair) of the BaoFengs on the advice of a friend when that model was being discontinued and they were cheap[er]. I think he bought something like 6 of them for his family in case SHTF. I need to break my study guide out...
I'll let you guys know after the zoom meeting on Monday what information I get and what some of the other folks are using or going to use I should say
I shouldn't have much of an issue with it. I've taken electronics classes, and I worked for a communications company that did local & long distance radio, satellite, microwave, etc. Most of the stuff in the guide was familiar to me...if I can shake the dust off of my brain cells.
Out here in my area, they're doing Zoom classes, you could just try one and see how you feel about it
