@Chrissy Cross - its a personal choice as you say Chrissy, they affect us all differently, some no problems and others, problems occur. Plant sterols are proven to lower cholesterol and are approved by doctors, so at least there's an alternative
That’s right Patsy...we all have a choice. Do your research, ask questions, go to a dr you trust. I just don’t take advice off the internet.
in 2012 the FDA put out a warning about statins because of dementia and diabetes but what do they know.
https://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm293330.htm Everything has risks and it’s up to you to do the research and decide what’s best for you. If I needed them I’d probably take them....based on my research and my personal experience with people that do take them.
Side effects? or effects Statin labels have been updated to outline the potential for non-serious and reversible side effects, which include: Memory loss and confusion Increased blood sugar Increased hemoglobin A1c levels https://www.fda.gov/Drugs/ResourcesForYou/SpecialFeatures/ucm290856.htm
If you read the side effects of any med, you won’t take it. If one person has the side effect they have to list it.
Bottom line....take a statin if you need ...don’t take a statin if you don’t want to. I’m not going to tell someone what to do medically since I’m not a doctor. Also...my son in-law will probably never be diabetic... His problem is cholesterol and a history of heart disease on his mothers side. He’s in great shape...golfs twice a week and works out 3 times a week. Not overweight and all muscle. He still eats his red meat and will probably never cut back on that but he doesn’t like sweets or carbs. Steak and a salad is his favorite meal. Plus he’s not felt any side effects of the Lipitor...he’s been on it for quite a few years.
Went off topic of ED commercials. I don’t watch commercials so haven’t seen any lately. And just because Hal hasn’t seen as many doesn’t mean anything. You’d have to research that but I’m giessing not all will mention it especially if they don’t see a dr about it.
Yeah, this is really what we want our grandkids to see...some big monster tossing around heavy weights while grinning and saying "She'll like it too!" Hal
