We are still struggling to get everything planted. This is the first year we have not had our gardens and greenhouses completely done by this time. It must be global warming or El Nino as it has been too cold and rainy.
Today is probably the first good rain we have had this season. It has been raining steadily since about 2am. Lovely! I have one more crop of beans to plant and a lot more thistles to pull from the mound. (It catches all the seeds blown down from the highway.) Daughter is mad at my chickens who got into the garden yesterday and dug up her winter squash and cukes. It is still early so we can plant again. Someone did not put the gate back. They won't dig in the mud. She usually complains we have too much winter squash and cukes.
Good morning to all- We're getting lots of summer squash= yellow and pattypan- and some good eggplants. Our mid-crop beans are doing well and we're still limping along with the early crop of beans- get a mess every couple of days. Getting loads of gorgeous purple sweet peppers for cooking and freezing, and daughter and I puggled out the last potatoes and carrots this morning. some of the biggest red 'taters I've ever seen. We even have some tomatoes showing signs of making it- very unusual for us here. Our cantelopes are doing very well, and i hope we don't get too much water as they mature- tends to blow them up before they can ripen. good year so far. you all stay safe and keep well- Ed
Sounds great! I am jealous. I gave up on cantelopes. We have a vole, or some other critter, that can't be fenced out. You go to pick up a lovely cantelope and find it hollowed out from a hole in the BOTTOM. All the nice ones.
