I think you can roughly compare a college senior's maturity today to a high school senior of days gone by. And that may be generous. Arrested development. That's why there is such a push for IVF. It's pretty easy to over-react when the people of the US have suffered so much. It's also easy, for me anyway, to misunderstand what I read, or even hear. I don't know if this is a Demand-Pull thing (meaning the students requested it) or a Supply-Push thing (meaning the corrupted university administrations are projecting their own needs onto the students.) Universities are suppose to escort the late adolescents into early adulthood. They have been taken over. I hope Trump pulls Federal funding from these places and the can then compete in the marketplace. Exorbitant student debt will go down, as will the salaries of tenured professors who don't even put in a 40 hour week.
Can we replace the head of the Department of Education? I'm just asking because the guy in there now has been there since 2021 and a Democrat. Just wondering if someone else might be better at the job. To me, that seems a pretty important job Our children??
The only thing that can be done is to defund it. It literally takes an act of Congress to eliminate it (I do not know the process), and even with control of the House and the Senate, I doubt that we'll get enough (R)s to fight the PR battle.

I guess you could appoint someone who was anti-Education Department since it is a cabinet position. That person could then request a very low budget, which would , in effect, defund it.
Another race has been called, so the Republicans now control the House unless Trump appoints enough people out of the house to cabinet positions to throw the control to the other side.
It sounds like Governor DeWine of Ohio might appoint Vivek Ramaswamy to take over JD Vance’s position in the senate, which I think would be an awesomely good replacement.
I think that's the best way. Rather than eliminating, just keep decreasing its budget, and the smaller it gets, the less power it has.
