"This is the search elephant. In a meeting, you will hear many people talk about search. Each person will have a specific meaning and assume that the others in the room will know exactly what’s meant when she uses the word search. If you take all these individual meanings of search and put them together, you have a better idea of what a search system is supposed to deliver".
They say that a trip to Bangkok is not complete without an elephant ride. So even at the exorbitant rate of $18, we took the bait to sample how it feels. And although it was disappointing because the trip was very short, less than 100 meters, I guess it is worth it just for the thought of experiencing the ride. But what's enjoyable in our Bangkok trip was the elephant show. The covered grandstand is facing a vast field where the elephants do their thing. Unlike a circus, the elephant show in Samprang Zoo is a docu-drama where a story is told of how Thais used the elephants in the olden days. Aside from the colorful costumes, there was also some blasting to make the battle scene realistic. And to cap the performance, the elephants played soccer that really was so amusing to the audience. With the many elephants that participated in the show, I wonder how much fodder do they consume in a day. With the size of the elephants, it is easy to believe that one can eat 50 kilos of fodder in a day. Here is the pic I took during that elephant show -
I have ridden on an elephant too, at a petting zoo in Reston Virgina. That was something. It was like being on the highest and bumpiest horse ever. I am going to have to ask my son if he remembers when we roe the elephant. I think he was only about 4 years old at the time, so he may not. I used to have some pictures of it though. It can always be a possibility I guess. We should have pictures of Dumbo on here for favored elephants!
