This makes me smile: One person on the forum I saw this was whining that Musk is gonna mirco-manage them all out the door. I told him that if I had the chance to directly demonstrate my value to an Elon Musk, I'd take all of that I could get. I would put forth an organized roadmap of things I was doing to help him succeed, and I'd go out of my way to create specific examples.
That used to be how one would get ahead at your job. Do the best work and become indispensable. Not whine about your assignment.
‘The People Have Spoken’: Musk Announces Mass ‘Amnesty’ For Most Banned Twitter Accounts After Poll Musk is pushing the reset button on the questionable banning actions that have been done by reinstating accounts en masse. Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, asked Musk to “Please limit content moderation to illegal content (or, at most, a narrow interpretation of moderation under Section 230) and give users the tools that enable the freedom to choose what content they see.” Musk replied: “That’s the general idea.” Musk also Tweeted: “Removing child exploitation is priority #1. Please reply in comments if you see anything that Twitter needs to address.”
Dunno. I’m not one of them but the daily user numbers are a little shy of 400m and from what i read a fw days ago, Twitter’s viewer base could be into the billions. That said, just like FB and YouTube, other than some ads (and memberships) I’m really not sure how they make so much money to begin with much less monetize them. Maybe I’ll get interested enough someday and do the research but for right now, naw, I gotta clean my gums.
I discussed one facet of it here. In brief: -About 98.5% of Facebook's revenue comes from targeted ads on Facebook and Instagram. -Apple changed their O/S so the User can turn off Ad Tracking -That one change from that one point of FB access giving Apple Users the option to disable Tracking is anticipated to cost FB $10 Billion in targeted ad revenue just for the balance of that year.
I read today that Musk says if Apple and Google remove Twitter from their app stores, he'll just produce his own line of cell phones. Elon Musk has a simple plan if Apple and Google decide to boot Twitter from the App Stores. The billionaire will create his own smartphone. Musk wrote in a Friday tweet he would "make an alternative phone" to compete with Apple's iPhone if the tech giant ends up blocking Twitter from its powerful App Store.
What I have been reading is that some of the liberals are now trying to get Apple and Google to remove the Twitter app from their app stores , which I do not think would ever happen. This did happen when Parler first started; but it was a brand new program and barely had any people at first, so it was no big deal to refuse the app. Twitter, on the other hand , is one of the most used apps on the App Store, and probably on google as well, and has been there for a long time. With new people signing up for twitter by the thousands now, I just can’t see either company removing the app. As a result, people were asking Elon Musk what he would do if the Twitter app was removed from the App Store , and if he could make a phone, so he said that he could do that; but he hoped that would not be necessary.
Another loser bites the dust trying to take a shot at Musk: As Mr. West put it, "...breathing their own exhaust."
Below is another interview with Musk that some might find interesting. There's some deep questions in this one on the subjects of SpaceX, Mars, Tesla Autopilot, Self-Driving, Robotics and AI..
Twitter Ditches COVID Misinformation Policy, Plans to Reveal Internal Files on ‘Free Speech Suppression’ Effective Nov. 23, Twitter is “no longer enforcing the COVID-19 misleading information policy,” the company said, adding that it will “soon” reveal internal files on the company’s “free speech suppression,” which could shed light on Twitter’s past actions in blocking content and banning accounts. The report included information about Twitter’s enforcement actions related to its COVID-19 content policies. Between January 2020 and September 2022, there were 11.72 million accounts challenged, 11,230 accounts were suspended and 97,674 pieces of content were removed. “The Twitter Files on free speech suppression soon to be published on Twitter itself. The public deserves to know what really happened,” Musk said in a post late Monday.
Imagine getting a reasonably priced Starlink satellite phone!!! While it would not have the intrusiveness of Google or Apple, I believe in our post-9/11 world that all calls & tests & emails must be captured and stored. So there is a baseline of intrusiveness that we cannot avoid. I could be misremembering, but I don't think I am.
The Administration is trying to figure ways to attack Musk and Twitter now they are not on their side. I picture investigations by the DOJ since it is now a political instrument to use to attack political enemies...or even those who report both sides of an issue.
