I have so many, but favorite?? I think a newer favorite, although it's been out for awhile now, I "The Christmas Card"

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0783494/

But all-time fave, since I've been a child, I've watched it every year;) It's a Wonderful Life, in agreement with the OP;)

I love and had to finally buy The Christmas Story, love this "realistic" American family of years gone by:) Darin McGavin was great in this one too, him and his furnace, and the Bumpice's dogs, LOLLLLLLLL!!

Bad Santa I haven't seen, but I'm going to watch it this year @Ike Willis!

I like the above version, but my fave is the 1938 version, and all the stars, especially that little guy that played tiny Tim, Terry Kilburn. He was also in several great movies, one being Good Bye Mr. Chips, loved that movie.

I know this isn't a movie, but I thought it a wonderful Christmas video. Christmas movies were not a part of my younger life, so I never developed the habit of watching them. I've only seen one or two in my lifetime.

So I hope you don't mind me posting this video.

Bought a DVD copy a while back of the 1951 version of 'A Christmas Carol'
with an introduction by Patrick Macnee ( John Steed from the Avengers TV show )
Also have a copy of the audio book, so I can listen as I walk to and from work.
Alastair Sim will always be 'Scrooge' to me.
I watch it, no matter the time of year, when I need a lift.

Time to bring this Thread back to life.

What movies are you watching to get you in the 'Spirit' of Christmas.

This morning I pulled out the DVD of ' A Christmas Carol' with Alastair Sim.

Of course I'll watch 'Holiday Inn' and ' White Christmas' and ' Miracle on 34th Street'.

So many good ones out there. :)

I like the sappy old Christmas movies that I grew up with.

One of my favorites is The Bishop's Wife with Carey Grant, David Niven, Loretta Young.

I'm always torn between "A Christmas Story" and the Alistair Sim version of "A Christmas Carol" as my favorites.

One was so much like my memories of growing of growing up in the Midwest and the other one...well...wasn't.

    Resurrecting this thread.
@Mary Robi we have the same movie tastes. I watch a different version of this Dicken's classic every Yuletide without fail. My fave version is also the 50s one with the incomparable Brit actor Alistair Sim as the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge.
I understand the latest version has Australia's Guy Pearce in the Scrooge role.
