H obviously saw the potential of the great men (scientists, engineers) he had by his side, and used this potential for negative reasons, no great feat there, in fact the UK and US also used these men's abilities Getting people to follow him ? No great feat there either - happens worldwide, unfortunately Think this is the first time we've disagreed Bobby - but aren't we civil about it
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the right man for the time..the Great Depression. His New Deal was an emergency avalanche of legislation designed to fight the Depression by creating "make work" projects to put the "forgotten man" back to work. Opponents called it Socialism however, and indeed, some of Franklin's legislative creations were Socialistic, including one that many of us count on to this day: Social Security! He may not have been everyone's favorite, but he was elected President in 1932, 1936, 1940, and 1944! (And I was born during his first term!) In the 1936 super-landslide, he carried 46 of the 48 States, all except Maine and Vermont. To most working-class Americans he was "FDR...The Champ"! (I can hear the old campaign song now..."Happy days are here again...") Hal...and I'm NOT a Socialist!
Hitler commissioned Dr. Ferdinand Porsche to develop a "Peoples Car", which was the Volks.....Wagen. Hal
And modeled after Henry Ford’s model-T. Obviously Henry Ford’s innovations earned him a place in history but again, he isn’t one of my fav’s due to the fact that he was an anti-Semite and one of Hitler’s idols. https://rarehistoricalphotos.com/henry-ford-grand-cross-1938/
Avation hero Charles Lindberg, who flew the Atlantic solo in 1927, was also an anti-Semite and friendly to Adolf Schickelgruber. (Hitler)
