Everyone isn't mentally ill. She knew exactly what she was doing. She's evil.

Many years ago, my neighbor's daughter was killed by her own husband. He came up for parole in six years.
Murderers, especially those who kill minors, should never get out of prison

Does that mean you would agree to LIFE IN PRISON for her? or psychiatric treatment in a facility?

True enough. Some people are plain evil. Calling it mental illness shouldn't come with a get-out-of-jail-free card.

It doesn't matter to me, as long as they're not getting out to harm anyone else. A treatment facility would be fine. In fact, a lot of the people we currently have in prison would stand a better chance of becoming productive citizens one day if we did more than house them in a cell. The problem with rehabilitation versus punishment is that rehabilitation programs are operated by county, state, or federal governments, and governments are seemingly incapable of doing anything right. If someone is likely to be freed one day, we should be preparing them for life on the outside, whether that's therapy, job training, religion, or a mixture of all three.

Mentally sick or evil, she is a danger to other people. She should be put where she can't harm others. I doubt very much if she will be sent to prison since it wasn't a premediated act. What do you do with out of control people like that?

The fact is, it WASN'T a 10-year old bully. It was a full grown woman with a previous record of DOMESTIC ABUSE.

In any case, whoever is responsible for causing the death of another should be held accountable, no matter what age, sex, color, nationality, etc.

She's been charged with murder, Shirley. If found guilty she will get prison time, especially with her previous record.

I'll bet you dollars to donuts that they reduce it to manslaughter. Wanna bet?

Anything is possible, but with her previous arrests and that video, I doubt it.

Her previous offenses were for domestic issues. Also---she might just have the mind of a 10 year old and not a grown woman.
You would be a tough juror Beth.

If someone says something you don't like and you shove them out into traffic, you've done something evil.

    What's evil?
    "profoundly immoral and wicked."

    What causes evil?

"Knowing the chemistry of morality gives us keen insights into why most of us are good most of the time, and why some people like Hans Reiser are evil. Let's start with evil. Rodents that genetically lack receptors for oxytocin behave like psychopaths--they do whatever they want without regard for others' safety or welfare. They are loners in permanent survival mode. These behaviors also occur for many victims of childhood abuse; the oxytocin circuit in the brain needs nurturing to develop properly. The abuse victims I have studied are also in survival mode and have impaired social behaviors." https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-moral-molecule/201109/why-some-people-are-evil

The need to do harm, the need to punish, disregard of another's life, using alcohol or drugs to the extent you will do something you would -never- do if you weren't under the influence - some of the things that result in evil behavior.

Many who become violent have had horrific childhoods - weeks, months years at the hands of people that don't have anything resembling a conscience. It's often the reason, not an excuse.
