Back when I had the house, the next door neighbor had a big vegetable garden. They had a horse and plenty of fertilizer. They had everything in that garden at one time or another. I would help weed and was able to pick what I wanted. The onions right from the ground were so wonderful. I liked the peppers, but up here, everyone's bell peppers are on the thin side; not long enough of a growing season for them I think. One year they let me put in some plum tomatoes I'd started from seed and often a row or two of green beans which they didn't like. I grew flowers in my yard, instead of veggies. Now, I have flowers and basil in pots, but I miss those really fresh veggies so much!
I saw @Carol Cook is going to be planting some corn and mums, she'll probably make her way over to this thread when she sees this. @Yvonne Smith I have two mandevillas, one is pink and the other is white. I've had the white one for years on the balcony. I cover them in the winter when it's cold, but just around the base of the plants. I bought the pink one last year, and thankfully, it looks as if it's survived the winter just fine. @Sheldon Scott Will you plant more cucumbers?
I sure will. We are almost out of pickles. I hope we get enough to can a lot, then we can grow less next year.
