I’m not sure if Craig has been forced to evacuate his home …..due to Sydney NSW being deluged by rain / floods AGAIN …..for the Third time this year …..my heart go’s out to everyone that effected by this major flooding AGAIN with many left homeless until the flooding subsides …..the sad part is many can’t afford thousands of $$$$ for flood insurance so if their home get flooded they have to repair their own homes @Craig Wilson https://www.9news.com.au/national/s...of-areas/e87de183-2dba-4578-88fd-297cc51cf24c
Katie we are still afloat. Garage underwater only. This new 'rain bomb' came out of the blue after a fine/mild winter to date and our weather people BOM saying La Nina had left us. BOM is saying that the Greater Sydney area is having "the equivalent of a Sydney Harbor's worth of rain dumped on it daily". That is astounding! Our dams are the fullest they have been in decades. Yes I too feel for those having to evacuate. Many are still recovering from the last devastating Summer/Autumn La Nina rain events. Will their homes eventually become uninsurable due to more frequent global warming events like La Nina and El Nino.
This massive rain band stretching some 2K x 500 kms sweeping across north/east Australia makes ours in the south resemble a drizzle by comparison. A great proportion of our tropical fruit is grown in this area, so many farms will be wiped out and livelihoods affected before this monster is finished. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/national_radar_sat.loop.shtml
Thank you all for your kind words. I will also pass them onto those most in need of them. Like families south of Sydney in the vast Camden district and north around the Hawkesbury River that have had to evacuate twice in three months then face a massive cleanup. The worst of the rain has now headed further north. BOM says the Hunter Valley is now most at risk. I actually saw some blue sky earlier.. first in almost a week.
This may be belated but my heart goes out to the families of those killed by that nutter at the Fourth of July parade. Hope y'all had a great day.. regardless.
Shocking news, those poor people had no chance. I love the word y'all, spoken with a British accent though it doesn't sound right.
An Australian accent.. if you dont mind Jess. Actually posting a long time with my friend Shirley Martin has seen her use of southern American slang rub off on me.
When you have the equivalent of a Sydney Harbor's amount of rain pouring down on your city my pool overflowed often Jess. I found myself having to drain it sometimes three times a day to avoid flooding the entire pool area.
I had the wrong end of the stick then Jess.. sorry bout that. Last time we had something approaching this rain event.. my pool became a swamp from mud and palm tree debris and was a painstaking job to clean. So I promised myself it will never happen again. I shored up my pool surrounds and the last extreme downpours barely impacted my pool water.
