OK, add another to my growing list. Either I used to have numb taste buds, chemo has really made things taste funky, or the recipe for this soup is different. This stuff is N A S T Y.
What a coincidence. I had one of these just last week for the very first time. It was at the checkout counter at a convenience store and looked good. It was. I like Spam. Tried the turkey version right after Thanksgiving. Didn't much care for that. Maybe I didn't give it a chance. We always ate meat, potatoes, vegs, not too many treats or special things. Once or twice my mother bought Chef Boyardee canned ravioli, and I liked it then, but find it way too mushy now.
I still like spam. I wouldn't want it often but, as a once in a while thing, I like it well enough. I used to like a whole lot of canned stuff that disgusts me now, though. Then there is Hamburger Helper; when I first moved out on my own, I loved Hamburger Helper.
lol @ "Hamburger Helper" because when my son first got out of West Point, as a 2nd Lt, he said he was so broke all he could afford was "Helper Helper"....
Gag on Hamburger Helper @Ken Anderson ..sorry. I like Spam but do not buy very often. Fried in skillet(no oil needed)top with scrambled egg and piece of cheese..yummy. Or top with avocado- even better
That's funny you should put up that pic. I used to eat Spaghetti-Os when I was a kid, and a grocery store put them on sale for something like 10/$10, so I bought some. Man, is that stuff nasty. No amount of Parmesan could fix it. Off to the local food bank... SPAM makes a nice change of pace, as does fried bologna. But only every few years. I've never done and of the "Helper" stuff.
Sometimes when my wife cooks something special, I will say something like, "That was pretty darned good. It's not Hamburger Helper, but it's not bad." I'm not sure why I'm still married.
Probably a necessity if you're a beaver, huh? Beaver 1: "I hear you got a glandular problem." Beaver 2: "Yeh. Somebody ate them."
