My mother used to bake sauerkraut with spare ribs and brown sugar in the oven. I don't know what else, so I never made it but it was great.. My cousin used pork chops. Sausage is too fatty.
Avocados don't make me go ewwww, and if I order Mexican food that is served with avocados mixed into it, I don't necessarily pick them all out, but I am not fond of avocados.
That I remember my mother cooked cow's tongue, oxtails, pigs feet, chitterlings, and chicken gizzards all of which she had for herself. She served us up some chitterlings once and I didn't want to eat them and told her so but she gave me an ultimatum I couldn't refuse. Needless to say I was in the bathroom immediately after. I was so glad when we finally got a dog. The name Mikey would surely fit him.
Whenever my wife prepares snacks for visitors, she'll always include a dish of sliced Avocados among other Hors d'ouvres and dips. I love Avocados! To me, I don't go "Ewwwww", I go "Aaaaah"! I slice them from pole-to-pole rather than equatorially...this opens up a greater surface area for spreading them out for sandwiches. Judy nearly always gives me an appetizer dish of sliced 'cados which I salt and eat before the main course comes. She buys them several at a time, always the "Haas" variety. After ripening at room tempertaure, they are refrigerated. Hal
I was not sure how I would like sushi, but I tried some when Robin and I went to lunch one time, and I really liked it. Our little Korean grocery down the road makes and sells fresh sushi, and it is delicious. Some sushi has raw fish in it, but I think that this one is vegetables and maybe soy sauce. I am having some for lunch, and here is what it looked like.
