Try using synonyms on old sayings and phrases.

Example: "Liar Liar, Pants On Fire" becomes:
    "Liar Liar, Trousers Ablaze" or
    "Liar Liar, Slacks Ignited" or
    "Liar Liar, Shorts in Flames"

"You can't Teach An Old Dog New Tricks" becomes:
One Can't Instruct An Elderly Canine Fresh Illusions"

See how witty and original you can be!

If wishes were horses, beggars could ride.
If hankerings were equines , hoboes could proceed.

Ok, what's the original form of this one?

    "Prevaricator, prevaricator
    Trousers ablaze..."

Got it? Then you write one!
